Dosage |
- Hypertension : Initial therapy: 10 mg once daily . Usual dosage range : ( 20 – 40 ) mg daily as a single daily dose . - Heart failure : Initial therapy : 5 mg once daily . Usual dosage range : ( 5 – 20 ) mg daily as a single daily dose . - Acute myocardial infarction : Within 24 hours of the onset of myocardial infarction , the first dose is 5 mg followed by 5 mg after 24 hours then 10 mg after 48 hours then 10 mg once daily. Dosing should continue for 6 weeks . - Diabetic nephropathy : Initial therapy : 2.5 mg daily . Usual dosage range : ( 10 – 20 ) mg daily . N.B. : Where this drug is replaced by beta -adrenoreceptor blocking agents , these agents should be withdrawn gradually . Dose should be reduced in renal impairment . |

Adverse Reactions |
- It may cause angioedema , skin rash , pruritus and urticaria , persistent dry cough, sinusitis , gastro-intestinal disturbances and blood dyscrasia . - Hypotension may occur especially in patients taking high doses of diuretics, on low sodium diet , on dialysis or dehydrated . |

Contra Indications |
- Patients with known or suspected renovascular diseases unless the blood pressure cannot be controlled by other drugs . - Patients hypersensitive to ACE inhibitors ( including angioedema ) . |

Drug Interactions |
- Excessive hypotension may occur when Lisinopril is used concurrently with diuretics, other anti-hypertensives or other agents, including alcohol, that lower blood pressure . - An additive hyperkalemic effect is possible in patients receiving Lisinopril with potassium – sparing diuretics , potassium supplements or other drugs that can cause hyperkalaemia ( e.g. ciclosporin or indometacin ) . |
